Gawker Media Declares Bankruptcy Gawker Media files Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the face of extreme legal expenses brought on by a recent lawsuit. Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, sued Gawker Media back in 2012 for publishing a video of him having sexual relations with his former best friend’s wife; in March 2016, the jury sided with Bollea.
