Airstrike Kills 40 People

On July 3, an airstrike on a Libyan migrant center killed 40 people and injured another 80. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but officials believe it could be the Libyan National Army. (CNN)

Domestic Violence Protests in France

On July 6, hundreds of protesters gathered in Paris to protest the amount of femicides due to domestic violence. The protesters are demanding tougher action be taken against abusers. (Reuters)

On July 7, tens of thousands of protesters moved through Kowloon as the protests against new extradition laws continued. The hope is that more mainlanders and tourists will join the movement. (CNN)

Russia Delivers Shipment to Turkey

On July 12, Turkey received a shipment of Russian-made S400 air defense missile system. This shipment poses a threat to the relationship between the US and Turkey. (CNN)

Suicide Bombing at Afghan Wedding

On July 12, a suicide bomber killed 5 people and injured another 40 at a wedding in Afghanistan. It was revealed that the bomer was a minor, but no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. (CNN)

Kyoto Animation Mass Killing

On July 18, in Japan’s worst mass killing in 20 years, a man torched Kyoto Animation. The fire left at least 33 people dead and another 35 injured. A suspect is currently in custody. (CNN)

Canadian Government Pays Retribution

Canadian Government Pays Retribution

On July 19, the Canadian government agreed to pay $1 billion to members of Armed Forces and National Defense. Months ago, these members had many allegations regarding sexual misconduct. The settlement doesn’t admit responsibility, however. (CNN)

Iran Seizes British Tanker

On July 19, a british-flagged oil tanker went AWOL and was seen heading towards Iran. Officials believe the vessel has been captured by Iranians. (BBC)

Tainted Alcohol in Costa Rica

On July 22, the Ministry of Health issued an emergency in Costa Rica after 19 people died from drinking tainted alcohol. Since the warning, the government has intercepted 30,000 bottles that may be suspect. (CNN)

On July 22, twenty-five people were arrested after attacking activists during an LGBT march in Poland. Over 800 people marched in the areas first LGBT activist march. (BBC)

The Queen to Announce New Prime Minister

On July 24, the Queen of England promoted Boris Johnson to be Prime Minister. May has one more speech to give before officially announcing her resignation to the queen. (CNN)

On July 27, hundreds of people were detained after opposition election protests in Moscow. Last weekend, 22,000 people attended a similar protest. These protests continue all around Russia. (CNN)

Boko Haram Attacks Funeral

Boko Haram Attacks Funeral

On July 28, an attack on people attending a funeral in Nigeria left 65 dead. Of those dead, 20 died on the scene and 44 died trying to chase the assailants. Officials believe Boko Haram is responsible. (CNN)

North Korea Launches Second Missile

North Korea Launches Second Missile

On July 31, North Korea launched its second missile in a week. The country launched two short-range ballistic missiles off the east coast. The country has stated it’s a warning to Seoul in regards to the planned military training with Washington. (BBC)
