Greene, Sarah Pratt McLean1856-1935Born at Simsbury, Connecticut, July 3, 1856 and educated at McLean Academy and at Mount Holyoke College. She is chiefly known as the author of “Cape Cod Folks”, “Vesty of the Basins”, and other volumes dealing with the life of the Cape Cod fishermen, but Mrs. Greene has written one poem destined to hold a permanent place not only in our literature, but in the larger body of enduring poetry. This is “De Massa ob de Sheepfol’”, contained in this collection.
