Two Shootings in One Day
Two Shootings in One Day
On February 3, a gunman attacked a Greyhound bus in California. The shooter killed one person and injured another five before the passengers overcame him. The passengers then provided first aid for those who were injured. Authorities have not released a motive for the suspect. On that same day, a shooting occurred at Texas A&M University. The shooting happened in the residence hall, killing two women and leaving a 2-year-old child injured. Police have not released any information about suspects or motives. (CNN)

Delay in Iowa Caucus
On February 4, technology issues were blamed for the delay in the Iowa caucus. The delay is causing chaos, as the results could shine light on which Democratic candidate will face President Trump in this year’s election. (BBC)

President Trump Acquitted
President Trump Acquitted
On February 5, President Trump was acquitted on both articles of impeachment. One article was abuse of power and the other was obstruction of Congress. President Trump is still considered impeached by the House, but acquitted by the Senate. On February 8, President Trump fired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who testified against him at the trial, for “insubordination.” (CNN)

First American Dies of Coronavirus
First American Dies of Coronavirus
On February 8, the first American citizen died of the coronavirus in Wuhan. The death was announced hours after two flights evacuated US citizens from Wuhan. This is the first American to die from the virus that has killed hundreds in China. (CNN)

Shooting Inside an Atlanta Restaurant
Shooting Inside an Atlanta Restaurant
On February 14, three people were shot outside an Atlanta restaurant owned by Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss. Burruss was there when a gunman shot one person in the restaurant and then two people outside before running away. All injuries are not life-threatening, and no motive or suspect has been revealed by police. (CNN)

Ruptured Gas Line in Texas
On February 17, a ruptured gas line in Corpus Christi, Texas caused 150-foot flames to shoot out. The cause of the rupture is still under investigation and no injuries have been reported. (CNN)

Boy Scouts of America Files for Bankruptcy
On February 18, the Boy Scouts of America filed for Title 11 bankruptcy. The organization faces many liabilities as hundreds of sexual assault cases make their way to court. (CNN)

Sewage Leak in Fort Lauderdale
Sewage Leak in Fort Lauderdale
On February 18, it was revealed that for two and a half months, over 206 million gallons of sewage has made its way into Fort Lauderdale water supplies. The city has been charged a $1.8 million fine that it must pay by the end of March. (CNN)

A Swarm of Bees Attack First Responders
A Swarm of Bees Attack First Responders
On February 21, first responders responded to a bee sting in Texas. While responding, the first responders were attack by a swarm of 40,000 bees. The bees stung a total of 7 people before a beekeeper was able to safely remove the hive. (CNN)
